AMR - Autonomous Mobile Robots:
An autonomous mobile robot (AMR) is any robot that can understand and move through its environment without being overseen directly by an operator. This technology is the evolution of AGV (automated guided vehicles). Their applications range from palelt handling tote and small parts storage handling. AMR’s offer a wide range of applications and can seamlessly be integrated into existing warehouse operations or become part of a new automated fulfillment center design. In a warehouse setting, these sophisticated technologies partner with the warehouse execution software (WES) in order to grant AMRs increased flexibility to create their own routes between locations within a warehouse or facility, identifying and avoiding obstacles and rerouting themselves when necessary. The end result is a robot that is much better able to deal with the dynamic environment offered by most order fulfillment operations.
AMR’s are easily scalable by adding additional robots to the operation to increase productivity. They lend themselves well to substitute human labour to execute repetitive tasks and are highly reliable and flexible solutions.
